From Denim Dan to Denim Darlin’

From Denim Dan to Denim Darlin’! Featuring Roper Apparel‘s denim top 3 ways! If you live the western lifestyle or just enjoy western fashion you most likely have a button shirt! I wanted to feature a great button up top and style it a few different ways to show you the many options you have. The first way is more of your denim Dan/Canadian Tuxedo look. Denim button up styled with a great pair of jeans.

Most of the time I would most likely wear a belt and buckle with this look but lets be real I was of the Covid19 gang! (lol kinda like the Freshman 20) Where are all my soul sisters at on this?! I loved cooking these past few months and haha it shows! I decided you know its ok! YOLO! Haha.

Ok ok back to fashion! I paired this great Roper top with a pair of my favorite Stetson Jeans then to top it off with my new denim booties! Oh yes I did! I went all out on the denim train y’all!

For These Great Booties Click HERE

For my second style I just wasn’t to take the same great Roper top and pair it with one of my favorite pairs of skinny jeans!

I spiced it up with a great pair of heels some amazing jewels ( Turquoise & Co) and I did a fun Whipin’ Wildrag. If this isn’t quite your style you can ditch the wildrag and add your favorite Herring Custom Hat.

Scroll down to check them out.

For our third and final look I decided take this great denim top and pair it with one of my favorite denim skirts. Yes as you can tell I have become quite attached to the half tuck. It’s a look and an acquired taste I know as well, but remember the Covid19 we talked about yeah this help hide part of that cute muffin top! 😉 Haha. Just being honest. But I love this look so much! Check it out!

All in all I am in love with this fun denim top and I hope you all are too! Remember no matter how you rock you Roper denim top always stay true to you! Find inspiration from me or someone you admire put your own twist on it and ROCK WHAT YOU GOT Girl!

5th Annual Countdown To Vegas Part 2

I hope y’all loved part 1 with all those yummy food choices it made me hungry just reading about them! We are currently Vegas bound now and I’m so excited to get to see everyone and see all the amazing big fashion and cheer on my friends in the rodeo!

Up on tonight’s blog we ask these amazing ladies about advice for first timers and what is a must see!! Read below to see their answers!

Question 1: What is a must have for first timers in Vegas?

Question 2: What is a must see or do in Las Vegas?

Bobbie Tryan

Question 1: Walking the Strip is a must. There is also amazing shopping, shows and food options in Vegas!

Question 2: The rodeo if you can get tickets! I’ve been many years and it still has the best atmosphere of any rodeo I’ve ever been too.

Janzen Tew

Question 1: Epsom Salt. You will be so tired physically that having epsom salt to soak in will be a life changer.

Question 2: Definitely go to Bellagio and seethe fountain and their Christmas display. I would also recommend walking through Planet Hollywood and the Miracle Mile Shops.

Haley Corkill

Question 1: If it’s your first time to Vegas I would recommend investing in or bringing a comfortable ( but still stylish 😉)pair of shoes for the day. You do a lot of walking there so you can’t forget to pack for that.

Question 2: If you have time I would recommend seeing a show!

Courtney Motes

Question 1:  Lots of EmergenC, echinacea, and or anything to help boost your immune system.

Question 2:  I would say we don’t have a whole lot of time when we are out there, but I love walking through the casinos and seeing all of the beautiful Christmas lights and decorations!!! And of course if you get a chance any of the shows are amazing!

Jessie Jarvis

Question 1: Bring comfy shoes! It doesn’t matter how cute you look if you’re walking around like a newborn calf because your feet hurt so bad from putting a million miles on them. Trust me–I have learned the hard way!

Question 2: Although I haven’t done it myself, I’ve heard incredible things about the Highroller wheel, and it’s on my bucket list of Vegas experiences. Top Golf is always a good time!

Mackenzie Kimbro

Question 1: Lame answer, but survival tip: VITAMIN C (I prefer the Emergen-C gummies, myself), and WATER. Both will keep you radiant and healthy through all the fun times!

Question 2: Since these tips are leading up to the NFR, you have to go to the rodeo at least once! Pretty cool to watch it all from inside the Thomas and Mack! Besides that, (and this may sound lame to some but this is one way to do Vegas)… I recommend eating your way through town! Do some digging and plan fun dining experiences that showcase the sights of Vegas! Tons of celebrity chefs have unique restaurants all over the Strip, take some extra time to walk to dinner so you can see the sights AND have a delicious meal!

Amy Ward

Question 1: Comfy shoes for day walking! Save the uncomfies for night time!

Question 2: Visit every single cowboy/NFR related trade show! I loved the RFWA Expo I felt like I was shopping my Instagram feed. 😉 I heard the Neon Boneyard is really neat to see. It’s on my to-do list this year!

Carol Hogner

Question 1: Comfortable shoes!

Question 2: Go to at least one perf of the NFR!

Hannah Hogner

Question 1: I’m with the girls in comfy shoes and emergen-c and lots of water! I also take a power bank to charge my phone. I’m the worlds worst at keep it charged in Vegas and I have had it die on me and could find the person I was supposed to catch a ride with! (Classic Hannah moment) So to avoid problems I keep puppy charged up and ready! 😉

Question 2: Oh I’m such a sucker for Christmas so the Bellagio steals my heart every year with their Christmas display! Also I love going to the trade shows and just taking my time and meeting people!! So I recommend doing those! Haha

Hope y’all learned some new tips and things to do!! Can not wait to meet you awesome readers out there! Remember to be confident in who you are and Live In His Grace and Rock That Style!

So know that you know a little more about these amazing ladies lets dive into the first question!

Where is your favorite place to eat?

bobbie blog

Bobbie Tryan: Ugh where do I start?! We tend to get In N Out, Cappriottis, Joes Pizza, Nacho Daddy’s, The Habit, Shake Shack, and Big Chicken while we are there. If we want a great steak we go to Craft at the MGM. Plus I always have a list of new places to try while we’re there. And I cook dinner quite a bit, it’s nice to eat home cooking some.

Tews 11
Janzen Tew: Fast Food – Big Chicken, Restaurant – Kumi Japanese Restaurant (Inside Mandalay)

IMG_0857
Haley Corkill:  When it comes to food I can’t pick one! I love eating good food and lucky for me one of my besties likes to find new yummy restaurants for us to try out there.

IMG_4746
Courtney Motes:  I love love Joe’s Seafood and Prime Steakhouse off of Las Vegas Blvd. The snow crab is amazing and they bring it out already cracked.

Jessie Jarvis:  After the rodeo, I love to go eat at California Pizza Kitchen in the Mirage. I’m not a pizza lover, but their pizza is amazing and the restaurant is right next to the Mirage’s Rodeo Vegas stage, so you get to listen to incredible music acts every night!

Mackenzie Kimbro: Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House at MGM! Moderately priced, love the food! The website description says it all: “Showcasing comfort food with a modern twist, this restaurant really knows how to serve up the “new” in New Orleans.”

Graceful Glance with Whipin Wild Rags

It has been a hot minute since I have stopped to blog a little but be aware I have a bunch coming your way over the next few weeks! I could not be more excited to not only show of some amazing women and their businesses but also the upcoming 5th Annual Count Down to Vegas as well! We are definitely counting down to Vegas and I can not wait to see one of my favorite people Trisha Giles owner of Whipin Wild Rags. I had the pleasure of meeting her a couple years ago and we become instant friends as well as close sisters in Christ. I love that she is not scared to be who she is and also share not only her love for people but her love for Christ. So let’s get started and find out more about Trisha and how she started this amazing brand and business.

Hannah 68Photo By Denim and Velvet Marketing & Design

H: Who or What inspired you to start Whipin Wild Rags?
T: It’s actually funny, the reason I started Whipin Wild Rags was that I needed a side hustle. You see I had a gritty little horse I was bringing long, the only problem was for a while we were hitting more barrels than we left standing so finishing him was getting really expensive. I was also supposed to be applying for grad school to become a Nurse Practitioner but, to be honest, I was dragging my feet because long days in the hospital didn’t really excite me. Actually, I dreaded it, I would wake up at 4 or 5 am to make sure I got my little bay firecracker rode before heading off to work in the morning and then would race home to make a Thursday night jackpot or haul him somewhere to make a run.

I got the idea to make wild rags when we were in Vegas for the 2016 NFR. That was the first year I remember hearing anything about Western Fashion Influencers and when western fashion was getting more extravagant. I had only seen wild rags that were worn for function before then and I was all about these new ways to wear them!

H: How did you get started?

T: When we left Vegas I was really into the wild rag trend but I hadn’t put much effort into turning it into a business when Casey decided I needed a Serger for my birthday. We talked about what if’s for a second and decided to jump in and try to make a few wild rags and see how things go. We headed off to JoAnn’s and got a few prints, some thread and signed up for a sewing lesson. I am not kidding, I had never sewed anything and had no clue how I was going to thread this machine with four separate threads. A few days later I got the basics down and made my first wild rag. Let me just say, thank you YouTube I couldn’t have done it without you.

(Trisha this is just so inspiring you are one determined woman! I love that you and with the support of your hubs just ran with it.)

H: How long have you had your business?

T: Whipin Wild Rags was started Super Bowl Sunday 2017, I remember this because Casey was working and I was home working on my sewing skills when I decided that my product was finally good enough to sell so I spent my morning listening to podcasts on how to sell on Instagram and taking pictures with my phone. I’ve left all of these gems up if you want to see our humble beginnings take a look. But I am not kidding you I chose a picture, added a few hashtags and then started requesting friends. I followed everyone I thought would be interested and sent probably a hundred DM’s the first hour until I got temporarily suspended, but an hour or so later I got a DM back. Someone wanted one on my wild rags! I am not kidding I was so happy I was literally whooping it up having a dance party all by myself in our tiny apartment. I made the wild rag, packaged it up and headed to our friend’s house to watch the game, feeling like a boss and checking my phone every 15 seconds for likes and follows. Then BOOM I a got a second and a third-order that same day. When Casey showed up and I told him and we were pumped thinking this might actually be something. I signed up for every podcast on social media marketing and got to work. I was determined to quit my job and with a little luck and God’s grace was able to leave my position 3 months later and become the crazy wild rag lady full time. Those three months taught me all about sleepless nights and hard work, I would wake up at four and get a few done before work, work all day, take orders while staying active on social media and making awesome connections, then racing home to fill orders, riding when possible and taking pictures at night. On the weekends I would take wild rags to the jackpot and Jr. Rodeos. I was that crazy personal slinging scarves out of the back of trucks. At first, I was a little uncomfortable with it but I was crushing my goal and getting closer to quitting every day and that was really motivating and was what got my business off the ground.

H: What inspires you for your designs of wild rags/twillys?

T: Style is so unique and therefore I listen. My goal is to make Whipin a brand that is all about our customers. I read every comment / review and ask tons of questions because I really want to design prints that excite our followers. Every few months I will post a this or that type series of questions on our Instagram stories to ask our fans what they want to see more of and oh boy do they show up and provide some great feedback. The questions usually last a day or so but the information is priceless. It keeps us really connected and focused on the customer.

H: How did you come up with your brand name?
T: In true Trisha fashion the name is a product of my awkwardness. Casey walked in the door late one night and saw me surging at the speed of light, I am sure I looked like one of those crazy cat memes when he asked: “what are you doing?” And I blurted out I’m Whipin out Wild Rags and just like that the name was born.

(Haha oh my gosh I couldn’t love that anymore, in true Trisha fashion!)

H: What or who is your biggest inspiration?
T: Be prepared for a total nerd overload.
I consume a ton of content, I cannot tell you the last time I listened to music on the radio, If it’s not an AudioBook it’s a podcast or blog and I am so thankful for the content these leaders share with the world daily, it’s what keeps me motivated to achieve and grow in my personal life and business: Gary Vaynerchuk  / Gary Vee, Grant Cardone, Tony Robbins, Rachel Hollis, Brendon Burchard, Ashley Alderson, Warren Buffet, Kim Chan, Chet Holmes, Brene Brown, Annie Downs, Jen Sincero, Daniel Lapin, Terri Savelle Foy, and Lisa TerKeurst
My audible Library is one of my prized possessions. There is something about surrounding yourself with the words of encouragement and motivation but also some real-life get up and do it no-nonsense truth that keeps me going even when it’s Saturday afternoon and I want to go roping but I have work to do, there is no replacement for hard work and dedication.
H: What is your favorite scripture?
 T: Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

This scripture was encouraging for me in leaving a stable career for the unknown, a move that most people including myself thought was crazy. It has been a season that has challenged me to grow as a Christian and be the biggest blessing I could have asked for.

(That too is one of my favorites as well! )

H: What is a funny experience or story you have about owning your own business?
T: Oh my goodness, I’ve failed my way though most everything in this business and each day has its own challenges yet there is one image that is burned into my mind when I think of funny.
As soon as I started Whipin I knew I really wanted to make my own designs. I knew it was going to be expensive so I did a ton of research on what color, patterns, sizes, and fabrics sold best. No surprise leopard, serape and roses print were likely to all be best sellers. Eager to begin I started my hunt for a graphic designer and manufacturer. Thankfully I got a great tip and I found a manufacturer quickly. Unfortunately, I didn’t take the advice I should have when it was time to hire a graphic designer and I fell for the trap and hired the lowest bidder from overseas. News flash, people lie online… shocking I know. I was just captivated by the work this person had shown me and I thought it would be awesome to work with him on a wild rag. I also didn’t have very much to invest in this project so I thought that it would be a great idea to make one wild rag with leopard and serape, maybe a few roses and it would be an instant bestseller and we would be able to create tons of new designs within weeks. Well, after two months this is what I got back!

Whipin Wild Rag

Your welcome, it’s pretty funny now but I was super stressed and overwhelmed when it happened I ugly cried for 5 minutes and felt like an idiot for wasting so much time but sister I learned how to use photoshop that day because that project was out of time and money. There is a saying do what you do best and hire the rest, which is great if you can afford to hire the best as well. I did not and now it’s pretty funny but at the time it was pretty devastating because I was planning on using that design for NFR last year and it clearly was a fail and didn’t happen. So this year will be my first year with my own original designs.

H: What is some advice you could give aspiring makers, influencers or new business owners?
T: Comparison is the stealer of all joy, the only person you need to be better than is who you were yesterday. Do what moves you, I have recently taken up blogging on Whipin to bring awareness about issues we are facing as a community. The reasons I am telling you this is because you will get burned out and you will want to give up, sometimes you will need to adjust your vision and that’s ok, do whatever it takes but do not quit. You can make a difference if you’re willing to do something different.
H: Is there something you would like to share with the readers, it can be anything on your heart.
T: As I am writing this one of my favorite songs came to mind and it’s a song that really spoke to my heart this season especially in times of fear and uncertainty and I feel like someone need to hear it today.

Sidewalk Prophets

“The Words I Would Say”
“Be strong in the Lord and
never give up hope.
You’re gonna do great things
I already know
God’s got his hand on you so
don’t live life in fear
forgive and forget
but don’t forget why you’re here
Take your time and pray
Thank God for each day
His love will find a way
These are the words I would say.”

Gosh Trisha thank you so much for taking time out of your very busy days to sit down and share not only your heart but you life and business with us. You are truly inspiring I know not only to me but to so many. One of my favorite things about you besides your giant heart is that you never quit. You have so much grit and grace and that truly is so very inspiring. Thank you so much for being apart of today’s blog. We all love you!

Readers I hope this blog inspires you as much as it inspires me and also gives you a chance to get to know a little more about the face behind the brand. I truly believe when you here an owner’s why and how it helps you connect with them more personally and fall in love all over again with the brand.

If you are headed to Vegas this year and the NFR be sure to stop by and tell Trisha hi! I know I will be and might even spend a little time there! So stop by and Trisha and I would love to help you style that new Whipin Wild Rag!

As always remember to live in His Grace and Rock your Style!

Graceful Glance Interview with LaDane of Miss Macie Boots

Oh me oh my! I am beyond excited to kick off the Graceful Glance series again! For those just joining the Living in Grace & Style Blog. The Graceful Glance interview series is where we get the opportunity to chat with the owners of some of the most amazing brands and boutiques around. We get to hear their inspiring stories about how and why they got started. So with that lets dive into this amazing interview with a brand near and dear to my heart for so many reasons.

Let me introduce you to amazing woman behind the Miss Macie Boots brand LaDane Smith. I have not had the opportunity just get to meet her in person but oh I can not wait too. She is truly so amazing! I now personally own 2 pairs of Miss Macie boots thanks to being a brand rep for Wesley’s Boutique who proudly sells Miss Macie.

HannahHogner 22
Ok let’s dive into this fun interview!

H: Who or What inspired you to start Miss Macie Boots?
L:  I had the opportunity to work with Ryan Vaughn and Mr. Trainor Evans at Anderson Bean and since women boots are what I was familiar with they allowed me to create this brand for them and follow the vision and passion I had always had.

(Wow, what an amazing opportunity! In my mind readers if you dream big and believe what God has instilled in you He will make a way for you just like He did for Miss LaDane.)

H: What inspired you to stamp scriptures on the soles of the boots?
L: My favorite part of meeting customers is to be able to share my faith and perhaps be encouraging to them.  So what a better way to be able to Love and share with women I may never meet and impart something meaningful into their lives.

(Oh this is my favorite part about these boots, just knowing that you are stand literally on the Word and trusting in Him! Walking in His Purpose! )

HannahHogner 37
HannahHogner 17

H: Where is your business based out of?
L: We run most everything out of my office in Colorado. The Home office is in Mercedes Texas.

(Oh 2 of my favorite place see readers remember I am just a Colorado girl now living in a Texas world! haha I was destined to love this brand!)

H: What was the name of the first boot you designed?
L:
Either the U2007-01 Sedona or the U6013-01 Persuaded.

H: Do you have a personal favorite boot?
L:
It would have to be the U6501-01 Snakin It for Fall and the U8006-01 Mercy Me for a Spring bootie.

(Ummmm, hello are y’all drooling over all these cute boots yet?)

H: How did you come up with each names of your boots and booties?
L:
Guess I have to blame it on my roots!! LOL Love all the southern sayings I grew up with and thought it would make the names memorable and fun and hopefully easy to remember.

(A woman after my own heart, yes it does for sure make them easier to remember. I have a wish list of names and it is not baby names! haha!)

H: What is your favorite scripture?
L:
Psalms 91:11 “ For he will command his angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways” Is my favorite for the boots.

(Which I so love and just so happened to get on my new “I Dare You” booties)

HannahHogner 34
H: What is some advice you could give an aspiring maker, influencer or new business owner?
L: Never dismiss the desire that God has put into your heart. That is the seed of your purpose!!! His timing is always right. Allow him to strengthen you and mold you into your purpose and platform without frustration, bitterness or by being impatient.

H: Is there something on your heart to share with the readers.
L:  I have had many disappointments, trials, and uncertainties along my journey. The most valuable thing I have learned is LOVE is the nourishment to everything that grows in our life. Our Family, Friends, Business, Passions, Personal growth, Financial, and Spiritual growth. All things will flourish, bloom and produce where LOVE is!!!

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
1 Corinthians 13:13

(Mic drop right there y’all! Such a powerful statement Miss LaDane)

Graceful Glance- Wesley’s

DSC_2008

Hello there to all my awesome readers! I am so excited for today’s interview with Lana owner of Wesley’s aka @Wesleys.Nebraska on Instagram. Lana reached out to me before she opened her awesome business and we just hit it off! Instant Friendship! Love those connections! I thought it would be fun to do a little sit down interview with Lana so y’all can get to know her and her business Wesley’s a little better!

H: Who or What inspired you to start Wesley’s?

L: I’ve always loved clothes just like most girls do! I got involved in the western wear industry about three years ago with work and traveling for a couple different companies that would set up booths at stock shows and rodeos and that helped to light the embers even more on wanting to start my own boutique. As far as who; my parents have been amazingly supportive, as well as my sister and sister-in-law that have helped here and there along the way. A very good friend of mine, Sierra Jones, who runs a side business in calligraphy and created my tags for me has been a huge encouragement since before I started as well. Finally, Dustin Davis, is honestly one of the biggest supporters of this and who always pushes me to do my best and follow the dreams and goals I have! He’s been one of the biggest encouragers for me this whole time.

One of the real inspirations behind starting Wesley’s was not only to start my own boutique and small business, but to also find name brand items that I could get to girls at lower prices. One of the biggest goals that I have for Wesley’s is to find some deals along the way that girls otherwise might not want to or have the money to spend on items right away. I love finding great deals on quality, name brand items, and I want other girls to have that same opportunity and help give that to them and save them a little bit of money here and there!

H: Did you have to seek advice before you got started or did you just go for it?

L: I did have to do some looking around as far as what I would need for supplies, a certain amount for start-up money, and other items along the way. As far as seeking other advice, I’d ordered wholesale before and had experience in that area, so I kind of just jumped after I got my ducks lined up, and went for it! There’s constantly things changing and keeping up with new items, finding deals for girls, and getting items sent out to customers. It’s all a learning process and I’m always learning new things. I love everything about this journey so far, though!

(It sure is, but that’s amazing I love that you just went for it!)

H: How did you get your boutique name?

L: I wanted something original and that had some meaning behind it for me, so I ended up going with Wesley’s; my grandpa’s and my dad’s middle name. I like different names and something that isn’t what people might expect being a boutique name. When I kept thinking about what I would name a business of my own, that was the name that first popped into my head and I liked the sound of it no matter how many other names I came up with that I might have wanted to use.

H: What are your 2 favorite pieces in your store right now?

L: My two favorite pieces in my store right now are the On The Fringe booties in ruby red by Miss Macie Boots and the Anna top [a red striped top]. I love the Miss Macie boots because they’re so comfortable, and I love adding a pop of color to an outfit! The Anna top is my favorite right now because it looks so good with turquoise layered all over it, and has a chic old school look with the vertical stripes and you can dress it up or down!

H: What has been the biggest blessing about your business in your life?

L: The biggest blessing about Wesley’s so far is the freedom that it’s giving me as well as the fulfillment and excitement of starting up my own small business. God has definitely helped me all along the way in this! There have been some great people that I’ve been able to work with so far, two of whom I would say are at the top of the list are; LaDane Smith and Bethany Keller of Miss Macie Boots. Those two ladies have been so kind and encouraging along the way and were so accepting of my business proposal when I first called in to open an account with Miss Macie Boots! Another blessing would be the people that have found my boutique on either Facebook or Instagram so far and that have been so kind and great to work with and that love finding deals as much as I do!

H:Do you have something on your heart that you would like to share with our readers?

L: Honestly, I’m pretty simple. My goals are to just be happy, own my business and have it grow into something that girls love shopping online to find something they love and possibly snag a few deals along the way! I stay super busy and I help out my family on our farm/ranch operation in Nebraska, I work part-time on transcription, and I’m currently seeking the corporate workforce again since finishing college. I love to stay busy and Wesley’s is helping with that and helping fill the dreams and goals I have. I know that I may not be one of the “it” girls on social media with the best photography, the most followers, or the most likes; I’m willing to work as hard as I need to for all of that though and build my way up to having a great website to give great customer service to girls looking for that new addition to their closets! I love seeing people happy and knowing that I helped give someone a little joy in finding something they love. It’s all a process and it takes money to build up to something bigger, and eventually better; I know that nothing like that happens over night, but I’m so excited for the future and seeing what else I can do with Wesley’s!

(I can not wait to see and watch you and Wesley’s grow I love your awesome boutique!)

H: Anything fun and exciting coming for Wesley’s these next few months?

L: For right now, I’m still working on bringing in more inventory, finding some sweet deals along the way to add, and also hopefully being able to add a website before the end of the year!

Lana thank you so much for sitting down with us and letting us get to know you and Wesley’s a little better! I am beyond thrilled for you and your new journey! I am personally already in love with Wesley’s and to get to know the story behind the boutique and owner makes me love it even more! Remember readers to always believe in yourself and your dreams, God is your biggest fan and He’s cheering you on and so am I! Keep styling in His Grace and your awesome Style!
